BFBA Chardonnay - 2008
The antithesis of the Unoaked version. Round toasty oak provides the background of this oaked variety. BFBA stands for “barrel fermented, barrel aged” which one would assume is equivelant to sucking on a 2x4, but interestingly, the extended contact in this case gives a nice middle palate and finish yet apple and pear fruit are prevalent on the attack.
Chardonnay - 2009
Medium bodied with crisp apple and lime zest. This wine comes from the 22 year old block of vines in Lot 31, careful management of the vines have led to lower yields and more intense character. The grapes underwent a cold soak period of 1 week before a light pressing and stabilization. Partial malolactic fermentation took place during a sur-lie aging of 5 weeks.
Road Block Chardonnay - 2010
This block of chardonnay greets you as you travel up the driveway at Marynissen. These are the vines that John and Nanny watched over every day from their front porch since 1990. 50% of the wine has been fermented and aged in 2nd and 3rd year oak barriques, with a full Malolactic fermentation and 6 month lees contact. The other 50% was stainless steel tank fermented and no malolactic fermentation, leaving that portion crisp and refreshing with green apple and lime notes. The wine is a lovely balance of creamy butterscotch and toast up front, with crisp tart acidity through the mid palate and long finish.
Sauvignon Blanc - 2010
Typical hot vintage notes of tropical fruit and mint are the markers of this white. Partially barrel fermented and aged in 2nd year French Oak, this wine is big, full bodied and long in the finish making it an incredible pair for foods from the grill.
Summer Solstice - 2010
Unoaked Chardonnay - 2008
100% stainless steel fermented and aged gives this wine crisp acidity and fresh fruit. 100% MLF gives this wine a creaminess or buttery-ness often mistaken for Oak aging. This wine comes from a cooler vintage but has shown to have aged nicely. Enjoy on its own, or with delicate fish or poultry.
